On May 12, the worlds second largest single container terminal - the container terminal in the Chuanshan port area of Zhoushan Port, Ningbo saw its first rail-sea intermodal train. 100 standard containers fully loaded with solar PV modules were short-barged by trailers from the train to the cargo ship heading abroad on the same day.
On April 15, the Chuanshan port station of Zhoushan Port Railway in Ningbo implemented the independent customs operation, changed from the mode outside the customs territory to the inside, and launched a new rail-sea intermodal transport system. The rail-sea intermodal train from Yiwu to Chuanshan port area of Zhoushan Port in Ningbo is the first regular train after the independent customs operation of the Chuanshan port station, which brings new experience of efficient, convenient and low-cost transportation to the consignors.
The rail-sea intermodal trains have provided a fast transport corridor (as quickly as 6 hours) between Yiwu, the "capital of small commodities in the world," and the container terminal in the Chuanshan port area of Zhoushan Port, Ningbo, realizing the "seamless connection" between the railway, port and the international logistics gateway of the Maritime Silk Road, further improving the export customs clearance efficiency and reducing the transport cost.
